In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment. You will work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure a smooth operation and contribute to a positive dining experience for our residents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas.
• Load and unload dishwashing machines.
• Wash specific items by hand.
• Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately.
• Set up workstations before meal prep begins.
• Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours.
• Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and place orders when necessary.
• Remove garbage regularly.
• Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor.
• Must be 18 Years or older

Skills:

• Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed.
• Time management skills.
• Attention to detail and sanitation rules.
• Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings.
• High school diploma is a plus.
• Experience is a plus
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, and reach frequently throughout the shift.
• Capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Willing and able to work required shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Comfortable working in a moderate-to-noisy environment.
• Able to work safely in varying temperatures, including exposure to heat from cooking areas and cold temperatures in below-zero freezers.

• Stock laundry and cleaning cart with supplies.
• Maintain clean laundry room and keep chemicals in an orderly fashion.
• Fold lines and resident clothing articles.
• Change resident bedding.
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize common areas, common restrooms, and residents' rooms and bathrooms.

Provide overall supervision and direction for dining services program. Director is also responsible for delivering necessary programs in a manner that exceeds residents' expectations and provides the Community with additional revenues.

• Follow all company dietary policies and procedures and ensure compliance by other food service employees.
• Order food and kitchen supplies from approved vendors and maintain good communication with all vendors.
• Record and maintain adequate food inventory and complete reports as required by the company.
• Ensure that employees practice safe food-handling techniques and comply with federal, state, county, and city regulations regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
• Instruct employees in the use, care, cleaning, and maintenance of all kitchen equipment and ensure that all equipment is in good working condition.
• Support all catering services and help plan theme evenings, dinners, picnics, special parties, etc., with Activities Director and food service staff.

Skills:

• Must hold a valid Serve Safe certification 
• High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
• Possess knowledge of sanitation procedures.
• Competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Be able to work well under pressure.
• Promote positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork.
• Demonstrate positive attitude and ability to work well with all people, particularly the elderly.
• CPR/ First Aid Certification required within 30 days of hire.

• Design and plan nutritious and well-balanced menus suitable for senior residents, considering their dietary needs and preferences.
• Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, ensuring high quality and presentation standards.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavors.
• Innovate and create new dishes to provide variety and excitement for our residents.
• Collaborate with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to ensure meals meet specific dietary restrictions, including low sodium, diabetic-friendly, and modified textures as required.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Ensure proper storage, handling, and preparation of food items. Monitor and record food temperatures regularly.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a cook (2 years) in a similar culinary environment, preferably within a senior living community or healthcare setting.
• Must have at least 1 year of experience in a healthcare or related setting.
• Excellent culinary skills with the ability to create and prepare high-quality meals.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
• Experience in volume-batch cooking.
• Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
• High School diploma or equivalent: A diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
• Must be able to work weekends
• Must pass a drug test and clear a Background check
• CPR/First Aid required
• Health card/ food safety handling card
• Yearly TB screening administered by employer

Work Schedule:

• Monday - Wednesday: (10:00am - 6:00pm)
• Saturday & Sunday: (6:00am - 2:00pm)
